FSC Successes

From its humble origins, the Family Support Council has grown to be a significant service provider in the Northwest Georgia area.  A paid staff of 45 and a host of volunteers implement the many programs provided by the Family Support Council.  The Council is guided by a 30-member Board of Directors from various fields such as medicine, social services, private industry, human services, and the legal profession.  An Advisory Board of 26 members and additional committees address specific service issues.

The Family Support Council has garnered the confidence of the local community and consequently, has been increasingly supported in its service delivery and development with steady and sizeable increases in funding over the years, largely by United Way of Northwest Georgia.  Other funding sources have been the Georgia Council on Child Abuse, the Children's Trust Fund, Georgia Child Care Council, Children and Youth Coordinating Council, Northwest Georgia Regional MH/MR/SA Board, DHR Safe and Stable Families Funding, Family Connection, G-CAPP, Georgia CASA and smaller grants from foundations, private citizens, and civic groups.

The Family Support Council has been diligent in implementing and meeting the requirements of all grants awarded to the agency.  Many of the programs have been recognized as model programs, worthy of replication by other communities.
